Gran Prix of Gloucester Day 2 Cat 3 (VIDEO)

After a pretty disastrous Day 1, I was pretty excited to eek out some revenge on Day 2. Cooler, overcast, more AWESOME course and I was prepared with less tire pressure and a lower seat to ward off the back pain I had yesterday.

The organizers figured that an uphill start, with no real turns for the first half mile, might be better than yesterday’s downhill fustercluck. First lap was crowded, but wasn’t a total mess (though the leaders probably reached the seawall runup before I hit the grass.)

Racing started to happen on the second lap. All my racer and non-racer cycling friends informed me that my only goal for the weekend was to beat the BikeSnob. While Mr. Weiss did get the best of me Day 1, I was ready on Day 2 to settle a score neither of us agreed to.

To save you some time dear readers, if you see your name below – you are probably in one of these next few videos.

I edited down the 3rd and 4th laps (and got a little too creative for my own good with iMovie) to remove the long sections of me chasing groups up the course.

This final clip shows how a good race can turn bitter very quickly.

Why is it that some stud junior (who gets a 90 second head start from the front row of his small field of small teenagers) causes my race to end when he passes me? I know the answer to this: I NEED TO RIDE FASTER! I wonder if he would have slowed down if I had explained that I had an Aumiller to chase and CATCH? Pretty frustrating, given that I was racing MUCH better than the day before and I got passed with fifty meters to go. In the video I may not sound too upset, since the pain part of my brain was probably SUPER happy to be pulled.

In all, it was another great Gloucester weekend. Great riding by Cory, Devin and Zach in the 3′s. Super performances by the early bird crew (the 4′s): Ken, Dan, Drew and Tucker. And, does Threshold have a Woman’s team? Nice work Tessa!
