Went into Belmont Wheelworks two weeks ago to check out their shoes (they
always have the best selection of shoes; plus great deals on older
models.) While there I asked them to check out one of my roof racks
which has been broken since GMSR. Gary, who is their Thule
specialist, took one look at my rack and knew instantly what was wrong
(this was a warranty issue identified in my model of racks. Newer
racks address this by correcting the poor clamping design.) The only
problem was that my rack was a Volvo branded Thule rack; made
especially for Volvo and not sold through retail. If Wheelworks were
to help me, I’d end up with a non-matching rack. They suggested I go
to my dealership first and if that fails, come back to them.
I went to my dealership, got the cold shoulder, was told I was outside
the “1 yr Volvo Warranty” and all they could do was offer a new rack
for $100.
I went back to Wheelworks and described my interaction. Gary, without
any hesitation, started the warranty process for me. The only
challenge was finding a rack that would fit on my “aero” style roof
rails. Some part ordering and a day later, Gary had a solution.
Thanks to their awesome work, I have a working rack (which doesn’t
match my old one, but I like the design better) and it cost me nothing
(since this was a warranty issue)! When I went to pick up the new
rack, Doug B helped me with the install. Just a wonderful experience
all around!
