2009 Michael Schott Memorial Circuit Race Recap
I’ll cut to the chase. In the 4/5 field, Threshold had 1 top 10 finisher but put 7 people total in the top 25. No other team even came close to matching that number.
In the Pro-1-2-3 field, Leo impressed us all. Starting off the race well, even leading an early break group, which eventually fell back into the pack. He then missed the group split and ended up rolling in with the second group.
In other news on the day:
- The tent debut was impressive, right up until it broke while trying to take it down. We’re working on fixing that with some tubing from Home Depot. Nothing a bunch of Harvard PhD’s can’t handle.
- The kits out in full force really made an impression on all of us, as well as all of the other racers. We stood out like this:

- Nobody ended up getting hurt, despite the 3 or 4 crashes in the 4/5 field. Though Devin assigned us all the homework of learning how to bunny hop.
- A majority of teammates stuck around after their race, really fostering the idea of a team and comraderie. So proud to be racing with you guys.
There’s more, but since I abandoned the race with 3 to go due to stomach cramps, I’ll let someone else detail the exciting parts of the race itself. Especially the car that made its way into the final sprint during the 4/5 event……crazy.

I would like to say that getting my PhD at Harvard actually made me dumber and I have no real skills…including tent repair. Devin is apparently a semi-pro welder…so he is our man!
