Good morning Thresholders, all,
I trained Saturday and…
well, last year I had a late season goal of averaging 300W (90% of FTP) for 2 hours (and while I may have done this in a race, I never had the power data to confirm this), which I never met. And on to todays workout:
I planned on solid SST (SweetSpotTraining.. if you dont know SST, you need to!!) work using HR to gage wattage. I was looking to be at 89%-94% of LTHR (140-150 BPM) for 90 minutes. I was hoping to get this done as one interval, but had accepted the possibility that it might take 3×30′ or something like that.
Well I nailed the HR targets and was pleased to see that the wattage was stabilizing at 298 average. Sweet!
So I hit 90′ no problem (woah!) and decided to hold it for another 30′ and did so with not much suffering at all.
So, huge CP120 record (298W) with an AHR of 145 or so. Looks like I’ll be targeting around 305-310 for my next 1×90′ session. Nice??
word… not a bad way to burn 2100 kjs and enjoy a ride in RI.

p.s. drank and ate too much last night!
p.p.s. coming to Beantown today, cant wait to be bak in the land of the thresholders! I’ll be riding with y’all soon, I hope!

[...] effort offered little for me. Though, some quick math (Leo weighs 40lbs more than me, he can hold 300 watts for 90 min, he’s Jensian …) gave a me a good idea about what he was shooting [...]
