training log: “More eez bettah”

As I prepared for this afternoon’s workout (the AM MTB’in just didnt happen!!  My 20′ commute was frigid enough!) an image torn from a video of Jens staring at the CSC bus’s espresso machine appeared in my head.  He’s staring at the machine intently and holding his hands on either side of it like a magician waiting for the rabbit to poke its head out of the hat, amazing the audience.  But it’s not the image of Jens that was motivating me to make my next decision, it what he said as stared at the magic machine, waiting for his rocket fuel: “I want a beeg one, because MORE EEZ BETTAH!”

and with this I finished my beeg cup of joe and hopped on the rollers at 5:10 PM.

I did:

my first BT (breakthrough) WO of the 2009 season.

12′ WU

70′ of strict tempo @ 133 BPM. I forgot the powermeter head unit, so all I know is my gearing was 46×15 and my cadence never changed (95-102 RPM).  I’ll go back on friday and figure out wattage then by hitting the same gear+cadence with the head unit attached.

12′ cooldown

So, 1400 kjs and a great workout.

3 potatoes and a shake help me recover… coffee rocks my world.

“more is better”… thanks Jens.  You were right.
