got out the door for a 2:50 training ride late thursday morning and here’s what I did:
15′ warm up
120′ endurance pace (around 70% of LTP) where I did lots of climbing at low cadences (muscle tension/over-gearred training, it can be called…) and generally trying to keep pressure on the pedals and not get too complacent (junk miles will not please daddy Jens). Felt good, but still wanted 500 Kjs of work but was running out of time! so I then did:
15′ uphill interval right at guestimated LTP (325W)
which felt pretty good and the HR was below LTHR leading me to believe that I should increase LTP to 335W at least. I will do this, which pushes my SST levels (88-94% of LTP) to a wattage range of 295-314. This seems about right based on the PE (Perceived Effort) I’ve experienced at certain wattages over the past 3 weeks.
7′ more at tempo pace to get me home quicker (270W feels like cake after a 325 effort!!)…
15′ cooldown and I’m in the house scarfing a bowl of cornflakes with whey protein as milk.
Good day of training with a solid 2300 Kjs burned and not much soreness at all. Oh, and I ate heartily, but drank in moderation and only had a few small deserts. I’m patting myself on the back now..
Triptophan helps the train sleep… mmmmmmmmmmm…..
I was planning on riding today if the weather was beautiful (cant resist the lure of beautiful weather!), but it’s not. This is good, as hard workouts on wed and yesterday nessecitate rest.
So today will be some core strength work, yoga, stretching and lounging around. This is PRO… and dare I say this is JENS?? NO! I dare not call it JENS, as if I was to call it JENS, I’d be on the road pounding out 3 hours at 300W and smilling the whole time…
recovery time is PRO, but not JENS. Glad I cleared that up.
How’s training been for Y’all??
